Founded in 2018, Paper Rock Scissors Art Studios started with a simple idea: reconnect with the joy of creating. After years in the fashion industry, our founder, Prue Burnstein, decided to return to her first love—art.
Growing up, Prue discovered the magic of DIY creativity with just a few simple materials and today, she shares that joy with others.
Teaching visual arts to children is a dynamic and rewarding experience that nurtures creativity, curiosity, and confidence. Through drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media, children learn to observe the world more closely and express their thoughts in imaginative, visual ways. The art room becomes a space for experimentation and personal discovery, where mistakes are seen as part of the process rather than something to avoid. Art making can provide a stepping stone to further help develop problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and a deeper appreciation for diverse perspectives. It’s a journey that enriches both the student and the teacher.
Today, the Paper Rock Scissors Art Studios family is more than just Prue. Her partner, Hannah and 2 girls, Ava and Amelie, are often present at community events and workshops to help and support her and to bring a family focus. Together with the Paper Rock Scissor Art Studios team, Prue is passionate about bringing these skills to as many children as she can.
